Yuhang Wang is a lens-based artist from Chongqing, China, currently undertaking a Master of Photography at the School of Art, RMIT University in Melbourne. His work explores emotional repression, identity displacement, and the failure of language within intimate relationships. Through experimental image-making and non-linear narrative structures, he constructs visual spaces that reflect the fragile boundary between the individual and society. Using the camera as a critical tool, he continues to examine the emotional architecture and internal contradictions of contemporary Chinese youth. His work aims to reveal the suppressed desires, emptiness, and fear that lie beneath the surface of so-called normal relationships and idealised narratives of living.

Before relocating to Australia, he worked as a photojournalist at the Chongqing bureau of Xinhua News Agency. He participated in a range of commercial productions, including advertisements, short films, and theatrical films. He holds a Bachelor of Film and Television in Cinematography. Currently, he works with black-and-white film, collage, Polaroid emulsion lifts, and darkroom processes to develop a visual language grounded in silence, displacement, and perceptual ambiguity. His practice reflects on how images can hold emotional and cultural weight without relying on narrative or resolution, treating photography as a sensory space that activates what remains unsaid between personal memory and collective structures.
